About Ron Dean

After obtaining a PhD from McGill, Ron Dean worked for the Canadian Government and Imperial Oil as a mineralogist. An interest in passive solar heating led him to design Winterholm, a solar-heated partially earth-sheltered house, which includes a tropical greenhouse, winter garden and indoor pool. Building its concrete shell led to the accumulation of the knowledge contained within this book.
